Abstract: Improving competence of teaching staff at pedagogical universities has been seen as the crucial task to fulfill successfully the fundamental and comprehensive education reform. Therefore, innovation of training activities for teachers is required. The article proposes a process of training teaching with steps, namely defining the goals and demands of training teachers, designing contents, planning the training activities, innovating test and assessment of training results, etc.

Abstract: Teaching staff plays the decisive role in education reform, including teaching method innovation. To fulfil the fundamental and comprehensive education reform, teaching staff must be equipped not only knowledge but also professional skills. However, training teachers at pedagogical universities in Vietnam is far from requirements of society. Curricula at pedagogical universities are more theoretical instead of self-learning and to research. Therefore, it is necessary to chang an exam and role-based education and the pedagogical universities must do first and share with society.
