04. Teaching conversations in Vietnamese and Laotian primary education curricula: A comparative study

Abstract: Conversation is a frequent and popular activity of the human race using languages. To teach learners how to use a language effectively, it is necessary to teach conversations. Only through conversations can learners learn a language in a varied and efficient way. The paper investigates the issue of teaching conversations in the mother tongue teaching curricula for primary school learners in Laos and Vietnam, from which the teaching of conversations in primary schools in the two countries is compared and contrasted. Moreover, it draws experiences for developing the new school curriculum in Vietnam in a comprehensive approach, renovating methods and forms of teaching conversations in the practice at primary schools.
