Abstract: Mathematics is one of important knowledge in many academic programs at high schools and universities. Therefore, mathematics education requires a variety of approaches in
order to train learners with essential skills in the new age. In this article, the authors propose to use the model of research-based learning in mathematics education in order to develop the
necessary skills for the learners. To verify the feasibility, an experiment was conducted in Can Tho city. Then, the statistical analysis was done to evaluate and refine the model to suit the
context of Vietnam.

15. DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ MATHEMATICAL INTUITIVE COMPETENCE BASED ON LEARNING MEANINGFUL KNOWLEDGE IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

Abstract: Mathematical intuition can help learners more active and creative in various activities to predict, discover and achieve meaningfully mathematical knowledge by themselves in
unfamiliar situations. This paper focuses on developing students’ mathematical intuitive competence based on learning useful knowledge in mathematics education through the approach
of learning by intuiting at high school level. This paper also suggests some intuitive learning activities for student to understand or grasp the origin and nature of knowledge as the scaffold
upon which students can obtain mathematical competence for problem solving in unfamiliar situations through predicting and proposing compatible decisions. This effective approach is
described through an illustrated example at the final section of the paper. With the benefits of the meaningful learning, it is recommended that teachers create delicate situations which on deep understanding so that students attain significant knowledge to solve not only mathematical problems but also unforeseen issues outside school.

8. DESIGNING A LESSON BASED ON KOLB’S EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING MODEL FOR PRIMARY MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

Abstract: Experiential learning is known as an active learning approach that can help students confront the challenges of abstract Mathematics concepts. This paper presents a sample of Mathematics lesson which adapts the experiential learning model developed by David Kolb. The theoretical knowledge of experiential learning, the nature of mathematics education, and an exemplary mathematics lesson based on experiential learning approach, are also revised. The study proposes some resolutions for the upcoming renewal in the 2018 curriculum and suggestions for further education research.
